Anne Cohen

Anne Cohen joined Thenell Law Group as a partner after 11 years at a large Portland-based insurance defense firm. Licensed in Oregon, Washington and Utah, Anne and her team continues their focus on
Construction, Employment, and Cyber Law Practice Groups primarily in an insurance defense context. Her practice focuses on defending businesses in a variety of litigation matters, with a historical focus on defense of general contractors and developers in construction defect and other property-related claims and defense of manufacturers and distributors in product liability claims. Anne has also defended businesses in a range of director/officer disputes, and performs work relating to employment disputes, discrimination, harassment and Errors and Omissions claims. The defense of claims ranges from those barely out of reach of small claims court to multimillion-dollar actions.

Anne is experienced in briefing complex legal issues in dispositive motions, as well as negotiating creative and often complex multi-party settlements. In addition to striving for a successful resolution, Anne’s goal is always to seek maximum value for legal services provided.

Anne graduated from University of Oregon School of Law. During law school, Anne worked as an extern for the Honorable Henry C. Breithaupt of the Oregon Tax Court. As a third-year law student, Anne externed full-time for the Honorable Ann Aiken in District Court of the State of Oregon, where she worked on several employment-related matters. Upon graduation, Anne clerked in Lane County Circuit Court for the Honorable Lyle C. Velure. During that the year she clerked, Judge Velure presided over more than 50 jury trials and heard the weekly civil motion docket in Lane County.

Anne frequently presents to insurance companies and trade organizations on a variety of issues. She is available for lunch-and-learn or continuing education presentations, and is always open for questions.
